About the Author

I am a three-tme award-winning essayist and author with a lifelong interest in history, mythology, and literary fiction. I’ve been writing my entire life; I wrote my first “novel” when I was twelve—an adventure story with a main character who, not so coincidentally, reminded me of myself. My mother secretly gave the story to my teacher, who then distributed the pages to the class and had it read aloud. I was mortified but it was a success; the class loved it. I’ve been writing, in one form or another, ever since.

I’m a voracious reader whose tastes are somewhat eclectic. Literary fiction has always been my favorite, but historical novels, particularly those dealing with colonial America, are also high on my list. Favorite authors in this regard include Allan Eckert and Kenneth Roberts. Non-fiction works of history, both modern and ancient, are also typically on my reading lists.

But I have a non-literary, technical side as well. On that purely technical side, I have a broad background in statistical problem solving methods that I’ve applied to business and industry for many years. I’ve used my background sequential probability to design my own stock-trading program and develop a group of stock traders.

I am also widely traveled, with a penchant for out-of-the-way or unusual destinations, one of which was Dracula’s castle in Transylvania. I speak German as well as English, lived in Europe for a while, attended a German university, and taught English at a German high school.
